Born Iringa and educated partly in Dar es Salaam and Uganda, Ray C's career was underway immediately after completing Secondary School. She joined Clouds FM- a popular Radio station in Dar es Salaam, where she worked as a presenter/ Dj for a Hip Hop and R&B show "Dr Beat".
Being on radio provided Ray C with indispensable knowledge of the music industry and inspired her to attempt life as a recording artist.
Ray C took up vocal training and belly dancing classes
and well, the rest is history. Forward 6 years, today Ray C is a proud owner of three platinum albums, winner of Kisima and Kilimanjaro Music Awards, and stands as the best female Entertainer across East Africa.
Ray C infiltrated the Tanzanian music industry in 2003, with her debut album MAPENZI YANGU. The album sold plenty of copies that features hits such as UKO WAPI, NIMEZAMA, HATA MKISEMA and MAPENZI YANGU and secured the young musician a
platinum status within the music business.
Following the success of the first album, Ray C returned in 2004 with a bigger and better album NA WEWE MILELE. The Album expanded the young star's popularity to neighbouring countries.
Featured songs like WANIFUATA NINI, NA WEWE MILELE, VYOVOTE VILE, NDOTO and MAHABA YA DHATI appealed to thousands of fans and enjoyed massive airplay on radio and TV stations across East Africa.
The success of Na Wewe Milele guaranteed Ray C numerous performances across Tanzania with corporate companies such as Vodacom, Celtel, Coca Cola, Miss Tanzania, Miss Tourism and even national and international events with MTV Base along international artists like Pras, JaRule, Shaggy, TOK, and Jay Z.
Ray C has also shared her success with fans across the world in China, South Africa, India, UK, US, Holland, Germany, Sweden, Kenya, Uganda and Nigeria.
